HMT will be shot on locations in and around Yolo County. Locations have not been setup as yet.

On this page is a listing of Volunteer production crew members that we will need to begin starting the pre-production phase of our short.

The original short started out to be a one off but that focus has switched to an episodic series of 10 minute shorts.

If you are interested, then please read the crew listing and if you believe you are qualified, creative, or adventurous and have free time on your hands and want to volunteer to be a crew member on HMT than answer our call for production crew members.

We, at Flappin’ Shorts, are volunteering our time, energy, and imagination into creating a series of shorts that will capture and entertain those who love a good storyline. Our mission is to offer brief moments of relief, levity, and positive distraction amidst the demands and pressures of daily life.

Homicidal Mutant Tumbleweeds (working title)

Flappin’ in the Breeze Productions is looking to fill the positions of the following for an upcoming short filmed locally in and around Yolo County. The goal of Flappin’ Shorts Productions is to create true cinematic footage.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

Job Description - To oversee the administrative tasks associated with the production of Attack of the Homicidal Mutant Tumbleweeds.

Duties to perform: To oversee all communication between staff, crew, and any outside organizations, to ensure that all problems or concerns are addressed.

DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY

Job Description - To help capture the creative vision and style of our short.

Duties to perform: Is responsible for determining how to frame shots and where to position the talent to produce the best footage.

FIRST ASSISTANT CAMERA

Job Description - The 1st Assistant Camera operator is responsible for operating the camera.

Duties to perform – To know how to operate an iPhone 15 Pro Max with a camera rig for filming. Or if preferred to use their own rig/set-up.

FIRST CAMERA

Job Description – We need an individual looking to make a mark through his/her creative vision.

Duties to perform - To pull focus of the production by setting marks and ensuring the image is right.

VFX Supervisor (Visual Effects Supervisor

Job Description – To collaborate with the director, cinematographer, and production designers to plan scenes that will require visual effects, including those utilizing green screen.

Duties to perform – To analyze the script, consider the creative vision, and determine the optimal approach for incorporating special effects, including the use of green screens. She or He needs to be present on set during filming, particularly for shots involving green screens.

NOTE: We have combined the role of 1st Assistant Camera and 1st Camera into one position. And are seeking one person to perform the combined tasks.

GAFFER

Job Description – Will more than likely be the responsibility of all crew members.

Duties to perform – To determine the best lighting, filters, and associated equipment for use to deliver the style requested by the DP to produce the scene.

GRIP

A duty performed by all crew members.

SOUND RECORDIST

Job Description - To record the sounds of the project.

Duties to perform – To capture sound that should be on your short film. And to reduce the impact of noise that is not supposed to be present.

LOCATION SPECIALST

Job description – To seek out locations where no one has gone before.

Duties to perform – Find locations to film, secure all permissions/permits associated with a location and to consult with all location owners.

PRODUCTION ASSISTANT

Job Description – To be the gopher, general ‘dogsbody’ and jack-of-all-trades on-set.

Duties to perform - To do all the in-between tasks or grunt work that nobody else on the film crew has time to do.
